ONLINE CLASS: Script Analysis and the Art of Tablework
2 Pulitzer Prize-Winning Plays: Picnic and Dinner with Friends
A 4-week workshop on plumbing the depths of a script.
A class for actors, directors, playwrights, and anyone wanting to dive deep into text analysis. In this session we'll be working with William Inge's Picnic and Donald Margulies' Dinner with Friends, in which I was privileged to be part of the original cast.
Tablework is a fascinating and richly rewarding process. After the first read-through, when the newly assembled cast, production team, and backers have had the chance to hear the text, the actors and director are then left alone to plumb the depths of the script. In this workshop you will learn to mine the information you need to illuminate the text and create meaningful, truthful, and memorable characters.
